District Governor Steve Dakin delivered his address to the club by Zoom. First Lady Lesley Dakin was in attendance.
D. G. Dakin talked about Rotary's International President Holger Knaack from Germany  R.  I.  President Knaack has brought Rotaract as Rotarian's   He and is his wife Susan have hosted 40 Youth Exchange Students. His signature glasses, he does not need.
Steve and Lesley met  Holger in Kansas City Zone Institute in 2019.   He immediately commented on Steve's Purple Beard for Polio.
When they went to International Assembly in San Diego in January, 2020.  R. I. President Holger immediately acknowledged Steve.
President Amy called the meeting to order at 7:05 am.  There were club members missing due to no Internet.
President Amy was happy to announce that the District Grant for Buddy Benches was approved and the check is in the bank.The Buddy  Benches have been ordered.
Deb Dunkhase reported that there have been many food deliveries to Cedar Rapids thanks to Sue Cronin and Faith Academy .  They have delivered Gatorade.  There is still a need for Gatorade.  If you would like to contribute.  Contact Deb Dunkhase.
Food Fight:  Deb Ockenfels state that so far our giving is $122.94 per capita.
DG Dakin continued his presentation.  The Rotary Club of Iowa City AM has 18 members on District Committees. There are 63 members on committees and programs. He stressed Foundation Giving.  Be sure and mark the Share Box so that the money comes back to the District 4 years later. He emphasized Polio Plus.  He reminded that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will match two to one donations. Every Rotarian should  be a Every Rotarian Every Year.  $25.00 per quarter is the donation.  $100.00 per year.
Soukup Safety Homes is District Governor project for the Year.  They are distributed through Go Serve Global. 
These Homes will withstand 140 mile per hour winds.  A home cost $7,000.  His Goal is to raise $56,000.  If you wish to donate to this very great at, make checks payable to Rotary District 6000 HEF and mail to District Governor Steve Dakin , 1818  140th  St. Boone, Ia

He talked about RYLA and how important the program is. 
He had the opportunity in May of 2017 to be with Vice President Jennifer Now for Rollin With Rotary.  DG Steve drove the van 800 miles in 10 days and visited many clubs. 
Jennifer Jones is now Vice President Nominee for 2022-2023.  She will be the first women R. I. President.
He mentioned the involvement with three past District Governors in our club.  He also mentioned Chris Knapp's involvement with NC Pets as Chair and President of SCRYE.  DG Steve talked about Polio is a plane ride away and Past District Governor John Ockenfels Flight to End Polio.
