Past President Deb Dunkhase presented the program today on Iowa Most (Miles of Smiles Team 2020, Team Leader and Chair.
Deb showed a power point of many of the patients before surgery for Cleft lip and palet and after surgery.  The Iowa Most Team celebrated the 15th Anniversary of the mission in Huehuetegango, Guatemala.  The major crops are Coffee and Chocolate.  In 2005 the Iowa Most Team was formed by Bill Olin, Dr. John Canady PDG Gary and Nancy Pacha, and Dr. Pete Wallace.   Cataract surgery was added last year to the mission.  This year 102 people had cataract surgery.  In addition to the surgeries, water, health, and education have been added.  Each student was given a book of their very own.   Deb thanked many individuals that had participated over the 15 years.
Nancy Pacha, talked about how it is all about relationships, and the team. This year the mission was Jan. 17-Feb. 2.  There were 41 volunteers. PDG Gary Pacha thanked Deb Dunkhase for her leadership as the Chair and team leader of Iowa Most.
President Seaba called the meeting to order at 7:05 am.  Peggy Doerge was the greater and welcomed everyone to the meeting.
PDG Chris Knapp led us in song. There were several announcements.   Brian Adamec brought to our attention that on April 19, 1989,47 sailors lost their life on The USS Iowa. Deb Dunkhase talked about Open Heartland.  There has been $9500 raised and is being used for rent.  There has been $400 raised for Rice and Beans. There has also been a Community Grant for $6,000.  Tom Novak talked about Public Health and how minorities have not PPE's. Alta Medea-Peters talked about DVIP and how the calls are increasing and they are able to have Protective Orders granted if needed.  The Community Foundation has given a total of $4500.  Cassie Elton said that April 22nd is National Book Mobile Day.  She will take part in a video designed to give ideas of on how to reach people in this time of need.  Phil Peterson talked about the Crisis Center.  John Mckinstry mentioned Friday, April 24th there will be Zoom meeting From Johnson County Affordable Housing Coalition from 12:00-1:00 pm.  Deb Ockenfels wondered about produce to the Crisis Center.  Phil Peterson will check out and let deb know. Jean Knepper  thanked Liz Nichols and Karin Franklin for delivering frozen meals on Wednesday and Phil Peterson an Deb Dunnkhase for delivering frozen meals on Fridays.
