Program Chair:  Susie Poulton introduced speaker from DVIP Kristie Fortmann-Doser, Execustve Director.   Kristie spoke about he the work of DVIP and the upcoming 2020 Conference.

 Hazel announced that Ann Langenfeld has been a member for 8 years.
Hazel announced that the District Grant for $5,000 had been approved. This grant will be for DVIP to help with speakers , other items for their 2020 Conference in October.
Perfect Attendance certificates continued to be awarded for the 18-19 year.
Hazel was proud the announce that PDG  Herb and Janice Wilson are now members of the Rotary Club of Iowa City AM. Herb has been a member since 1963 and Janice since 1995.  They have been married for 67 years.
Herb is a charter member of the club. Herb has received many awards the highest level award from R. I. is The Service Above Self awarded in the 16-17 year when PDG Chris Knapp was Governor.  Hazel thanked them for their generosity in giving to The Rotary Foundation.
Peggy Doerge was awarded her Paul Harris +5.  Verne Folkman and PDG Chris Knapp also awarded Peggy with her Paul Harris Society.  Peggy has committed to giving $1,000 per year for the next 10 years. Chris explained that Giving to the Foundation is a  Journey.
 
 
 
 
Deb Ockenfels mentioned the Food Fight is on through July 31.  She is taking a truck load of produce today.  She also had checks totaling 750 lbs of food.
Many people were happy. The three people that went to RYLA were Greg Probst, Mark Patton, and Liz Loeb.  Casey Cook was mentioned for his continued recovery since his stroke. Chris Knapp mentioned the Dedication of the Polio Statue at Blank Childrens Hospital in Des Moines Sat. July 27, 2019 at 2:00 pm,

Kristie spoke on the challenges that people who are battered face every day.  She said that there used to be 26 shelters in Iowa, now there are only 8. People that are victims, take up to 5 to 7 times before leaving a situation.  Advocacy is an important part of what is done to help individuals with counseling .  There will be a Conference April 29, 2020
