Karin Franklin, Program Coordinator, introduce Nancy Bird, Iowa City Downtown District.  Nancy spoke on the Iowa City Downtown District being a nonprofit that will celebrate its 10 year anniversary in 2022. The vision is a hub of 300 business and 150 property managers.  They have partnerships with Iowa Area Development Group and The Chamber along with the support of the Police Department. Events:  The Pride Parade in October, Mission Creek, Iowa City Arts, and the Block Party held last weekend. The Block Party was very well attended and very successful.  The Downtown District is in Covid-19 Recovery.  Shop local ethic, continued Take out, 20% of businesses failed.  10% closed right away.  
Some upcoming stores downtown:  More retail dry goods, Catering to faculty and students,  baby store, micro events.  The Union Bar is going to be a new brewery coming this fall. 
The US Bank lot will become a student house complex. 
There is a grant program to help bars improve bathrooms. 
President Liz called the meeting to order at 7:15 am.   We will be in the Kirkwood Room thru the month of August.  At the end of August, we will make a decision where the club will hold meetings.  President Liz and President Jenny are working on a matrix voting evaluation. 
August 3rd we are short of key members, Liz, Amy, Roger, Greg, Chris and Vernette.  Past President and AG Coordinator Phil Peterson will lead the in person meeting only. 
No Hybrid meeting!  Valerie will provide breakfast and coffee.  
Deb Ockenfels said that we are doing well in the Food Fight.  At this time we have $247.9 lbs. per member.  Downtown is $75 lbs. per member.
Total cash at this time is $3,746.  Jennifer Skarda has made a $1,000 donation in honor of Deb Ockenfels for all her hard work on the project. 
President Liz reminded that the P. O. Box now is 2150.  There is a Human Trafficking Zoom at 8:00 AM AN 3:00 PM on July 30.
Eric Nurnburg said smoke detectors save lives.  On August 7, from 8:00 am-1:00 pm Fireman and volunteers will install smoke detectors at the South district.
