Announcements

President Deb reminded members that there is an opportunity to sponsor high school students for RYLA and World Affairs Seminar participation by making a tax-deductible contribution to ICAM through the District 6000 HEF account.  Any amount will help to provide a leadership training experience for our area youth.

Amanda McFadden announced ICAM will switch its old Facebook Group to a new, better Facebook page.

The Can Do Project needs volunteers to help sort cans on the second Saturday morning of every month at the Eastside Recycling Center.  The first opportunity to sort cans with your ICAM Rotary friends will be Saturday, September 10.  Please sign up to help with this fundraising effort.

Another autumn fundraising event is taking form.  It will be a Flea Market sale of our used, but usable treasures.  The time and place are TBD.

President Deb reminded us of our strength when we all work together with other area Rotary clubs by noting our successful Food Fight which provided over 18,000 pounds of donated food for the Johnson County Crisis Center Food Bank.

There are only a couple of spots left to sign up to attend the French dinner fundraiser at Valerie Martin’s home on Tuesday, September 13.  The cost will be $25 per person. BYOB.

Happy Bucks topics ran an interesting gamut from children’s engagements to happy news of grandchildren to appreciation for parent support to new homes to feral cats to very hungry goats to eat everything to sheep at the fair to Grant Wood art.  Never a dull moment!!

Program

Today was a brainstorming session designed to generate ideas about what ICAM does well and what we might do even better.  Members were divided into 15 separate groups to respond to five questions.  The results of the exercise can help guide our future.
