Announcements

Deb Dunkhase gave a report on the survey on breakfast preferences.  The vast majority of the 39 people who responded like status quo.  They want to make sure that there is always a meat-free and a gluten-free option.  We are still exploring the costs on Hy-Vee meals and may make some changes based on further cost information.

Mark Patton reported that around $600 was raised through the mini-golf tournament.  Myrene Hoover and Chris Knapp will share the plaque for first place this year.  Mark is also working on ideas for revitalizing the can project.  He indicated that it will require teams of members to actually work on sorting cans in order to make a new program successful.  Share your ideas with him about whether to proceed with a plan that might reinstate can collection into the mix of our fund-raising.

Consider attending John Schultz's last of three concerts on Sunday April 17, 2-4 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids to help provide funds for the Mt. Vernon-Lisbon RC charitable activities.

Also consider going in with friends and family on a 25 or 50 lb special order of salmon caught by Rotarian Dan Jorgensen in Alaska to help support Iowa MOST.  Fedex will deliver your order between July20 and August 10.  Orders are $22/lb, or $550 for a 25 lb box or $1,100 for a 50 lb box.  Orders can be placed online at www.iowamost.org.

Happy bucks featured several members who visited grand-children (or grand-dogs), are expecting new grand-children, celebrated engagement of a child and similar good news events.

Pat Schnack asked that each member bring a book to share for the last meeting of April.

For a special treat Pat Schnack, April program chair, arranged for a group from City Circle Acting Company to perform a scene from the musical "1776" which will be performed the last weekend in April and the first weekend in May at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts.  The scene featured founding fathers, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson as they considered the drafting of the Declaration of Independence.
